TROLL AND CHILL

Under the artistic direction of Martha Stützle, the art collective EXTASIER curates an exhibition dedicated to the theme of humor, creating an experience space full of sarcasm and irony. The exhibition includes current works from EXTASIER as well as other artists. 20 creations from the fields of painting, graphics, video, conceptual art and audio, are placed at the audience’s disposal for an evening of shared experience. Games and interactive pieces encourage you to active participate, turning a classic art exhibition into a playground for adults.
There is an idea that art should be a serious matter and, in that case, funny, humorous art would be at the bottom of the ladder. However, works of art that make us smile and laugh can be seen everywhere in galleries and art fairs. Art as well as humor function between reality and the possible.
Therefore both are able to help us create some distance from ourselves and to open our eyes not only to the familiar reality, but also to something different, to something new.
Humor has the ability to reconcile opposites, to allow lightness in the face of the weight of reality. With humor we are able to exercise criticism where perhaps without it the limits of what can be said might have already been reached.
